ANZAC Memorial

During my time at Sculpt Studios, one of the first larger projects in 2014 I worked on was realizing the conceptual art put together by Liam Hardy, John Smith-Gumbula, and Daniel Watts for a proposed War Memorial commemorating indigenous Australians and Torres-Strait Islanders in 3D.

I modeled this Marquette in 2014, designed as a 3d print to submit to the Queensland Government in a bid to win the job for the studio. It was super successful, with the council selecting it as the winner. Over the next 5-6 years I assisted with the digital elements required in a great joint effort to bring this groundbreaking bronze statue to Anzac Square ins Brisbane, Australia. The marquette was primarily used as a conceptual model and a point of reference for our Art Director Liam Hardy to sculpt the full-scale work.

As you can see there are some different elements in the final piece, as a lot of research and dedication was made by Liam and John over the years to accurately depict and respect the culture being represented. The final statue was unveiled this year, and even though this was work I had done a long time ago, as now it is in the public eye I can finally showcase the part I had to play in its development.
